Iddir is a form of autonomous and voluntary association that operates at the local level and provides mutual socio-economic support and emotional strength to its members during bereavement periods. The Kidane Miheret Iddir was formally established in March 2012 with a well refined bylaws and election of the Board Members. It is currently administered under the umbrella of the Hohite Semay Saint Mary Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church with the oversight of the Head of the Social Affairs Section. The main objective of KM iddir is to promote the Christian principles of solidarity towards cooperation, mutual aid, common feeling and common good of the members. Solidarity is an expression of spiritual love for each other regardless of the race, ethnicity, sex, etc. during times of happiness and hardships. The members mutually support each other particularly during times of loss of close family members by relieving the burden of burial costs and providing emotional and comforting support to the grieving members. .
1 Peter 4:7-11
The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
